Good morning friends. How’s long weekend life treating you? I’m loving it. Not because I’m doing anything out of the ordinary, but because everyone’s around. It get’s so lonely around here during the day when everyone’s at school and work.
When I eat meals I’ve been trying to get every food group covered. This way I’ll keep my body more balanced. So, this morning I had a perfectly balanced breakfast
.
Breakfast
First coffee!
Tall, Nonfat, Pumpkin Spice Latte. Mmmmm! Tastes just like fresh pumpkin bread. Personally, I think coffee is a food group and should be consumed once a day.
After coffee I focus on…
SiM Eggs (egg on jelly toast). Egg seasoned the usual way and I think the jelly was raspberry.
I had my protein- egg, and I had my carb- half a sandwich thin.
Food Groups
- Coffee: check
- Protein: check
- Carb: Check
What’s missing? What’s missing?
Fruit and or Veggies! Personally I don’t like to have fruit with other foods, except for sometimes at breakfast. Fruit is very hard to digest, so it’s better to enjoy fruit by itself.
I had raspberries, blueberries and a few slices of plum. I ended up not eating all the blueberries because they looked a little shriveled.
I had all my food groups covered. Gotta keep up that balance! See ya’ll later for some more eats!
Question: How do you approach balanced eating? What are your tips?

Looks tasty! I love the pumpkin spice lattes
It’s taken a lot of practice for me to get balanced eating down. I try to have a combo of protein, fiber, carbs and healthy fat at every meal to keep me full. I also love dessert, so I either have a small portion of something or I try to have something healthy (i.e. fruit) with a little something not-so-healthy on top. I like to microwave fruit with a few tablespoons of chocolate chips mixed in and a little granola or crushed up graham crackers sprinkled on top – it tastes like cobbler
I will be all over this microwaved fruit cobbler! Holy delicious!
For me, balanced eating is about listening to what my body wants. I tend to eat a lot of carbohydrates because my body craves them and they are one of the only foods that gives me enough energy to get through the day!
Some days I just don’t eat fruit or veggies if my body isn’t wanting them.
It’s all about moderation!
I end up eating almost all carbs too! Bread/crackers/chips are problem foods. I crave ‘em more than any dessert.
